How did you get into game development?

Game development is my hobby. By profession, I am a mobile application developer. But I really like to play different games, and in my head constantly are born different ideas of something such that I want to create. So in my free time, I try to bring these ideas to life.

What software do you use to make your games?

At first, I made simple Android games using standard Java tools (on Android Studio). Then I decided to do something more complex and beautiful. For two years I have been developing the game Snowicks: Snow Battle. Cocos2d-x was chosen as the game engine, which allowed me to go to the AppStore and Google Play. Now I am learning Cocos Creator to develop not only for mobile platforms but to create HTML5 and desktop games!

What hardware do you use to make your games?

From the beginning, I had an old Mac Mini, but then I got a MacBook Pro 2015. A very convenient device for development and use. For testing games, I use Asus ZenPhone 2, Huawei 5X and iPhone 4S.

If you could choose only one “item” that makes development easier what would it be?

For me, the MacBook Pro has become an indispensable thing. He is very smart, comfortable and functional. After MacOS, I have no desire to return to Windows.

Name one quote that motivates your development!

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” – Confucius
Game development is my favorite hobby that takes up most of my life.

Any books (or guides) you would recommend to new game developers?

The Art of Game Design – Jesse Schell
This book should be for everyone who has decided to seriously engage in the development of games.

Lastly, your advice to new game developers!

All comes with experience. Talent does not exist, it is an acquired skill. Therefore – to work, work and work again. Game development should be a hobby!
